Public involvement and partnerships are essential components to the success of any watershed management plan. Achieving the goals of the Saratoga Lake/Watershed Management Plan will depend upon increasing public awareness and developing local community actions and partnerships between government and the public sector. Objectives of the Plan's public participation program include instilling a greater public awareness about various watershed issues, obtaining public trust and support for the planning process, locating volunteers willing to work, and encouraging public responsibility for resource stewardship. Public outreach will be directed on several levels and will extend to the Saratoga Lake Watershed's 13 local planning boards beginning in June. A presentation designed to inform people about the watershed approach to water resource protection will be offered to each of the boards and any other interested group. Throughout the project period different topics will be covered including stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, wellhead protection, and possibly others. Planning board presentation dates, times, and locations are listed below. |
